Bring On Spring

The weather has been so nice lately our family's got Spring Fever. To remedy that we went out on Saturday and got the garden ready and planted peas...bring on the warmer weather for good!

Pocket Change

I convinced the kids to sell a few of their outgrown toys. They were reluctant to part with their processions until I told them they could have the money. They couldn't sell their things fast enough...loving their newly purchased, age appropriate toys!

Handy

The kids got handy at Home Depot last week at their free kids workshop. They each made a Trojan Horse Piggy Bank. They loved using the screwdriver and hammer. It was a super family outing. Now if we can only convince them to save their money.

Sibling Day

Ethan's class earned a sibling day at school for good behavior. Avery and Eliza were excited to go to school with him. They read books, played games, had lunch, and went to recess together. Ethan loved having his sisters there and Avery's ready to go to school every day!

Monkeying Around

Today we took advantage of the warmer weather and headed to the park. These 2 monkeys had a great time on the climbing ball...the smallest monkey can't wait to join them.

Will It Be?

I've been hoping and not getting my hopes up for months now...will this little girl be a red head?  We'll see as her new hair grows in, but for now we'll capture as many memories of the red as we can.

4 Months

Eliza is already four months old. Time has flown lately as she's learning new things. She's cooing and talking. She giggles and laughs and her newest trick is blowing raspberries. It's seriously adorable!  We love to have her interact with us!  She's tall and skinny still.  59%ile in weight and 95%ile in height.

All Smiles

Eliza was all smiles today after her nap. We snapped a few pictures of that precious grin and love it!

Spa Day

Today Avery, Eliza, and I had an at-home girls only spa day. One of us did the pedicures and one of us did the makeup.  I'm thinking maybe one of us needs a little more practice! I love the way Eliza's valentine heart turned out on her toes.

Valentine's Tradition

I love our tradition to decorate Valentine sugar cookies with our friends Jackson and Leilah. I did it as a kid with my mom and now I keep the tradition with my kids!  Love, love, love it.

Homework Helper

Ethan loves Eliza. When I looked down today as he was reading his take home reading book he was holding her hand. She makes doing homework more bearable.

King of the Jungle

Thanks to Aunt Amy we were able to go see the play Tarzan with some friends at Hale Center Theatre. Robby, Amy's friend, builds the sets there.

We had a great time. Ethan loved the chameleon and Avery loved the flamingos. I was blown away by the girls doing the aerial acrobatics. We've been spoiled with plays this year.

Scientist

Ethan is learning to be a scientist in first grade. He came home the other day and shared the experiment he did in class.

We used a bowl if milk and some food coloring.

He loved showing us how he could make the food coloring run away and dance. I love that he loves learning!

Our Little Ballerina

After sitting through countless soccer games, football games, baseball games and practices for her older brother Avery finally got to do something just for her!

I found a beginning dance class and signed her up. She was so excited. We signed up on a Friday and class started on Tuesday, but that was nearly too long to wait.

We HAD to have a leotard, tutu, and ballet shoes, because that's what real ballerinas wear.  She's loving her class and I love hearing all about it and watching her practice!

A New Kind of Tie Dye

Ethan ran a fever of 102 for 6 days. By the end of the week we all had a touch of Cabin Fever so we got creative....

I'd seen this idea on Pinterest and had all the supplies on hand so we got to crafting.

First we drew on our shirts with Sharpie markers. We used plastic cups underneath to contain the design and catch excess liquid from the next step.

After we drew our designs we added a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the middle of our circles and waited for the ink to spread.

The kids had a lots of fun and our shirts turned out fabulous!  It made for a great afternoon.

First Day Of First Grade

Avery and I sent Ethan off to his first day of first grade this morning. That's big for 2 reasons:  it's ALL DAY!  And I taught first grade do its near and dear to my heart.

He was so excited. I can't wait to hear how it went, but knowing this kids I'm sure he loved it all.

When I asked him what he was most excited about for the new year his immediate response was...recess!  The soccer field is way bigger!

Love this grown up boy!

So Worth It!

Avery just spent the last hour looking back over old blog posts!  We loved every minute of it.  It brought tears to my eyes to see how much my kids have grown.  We smiled and laughed at the fun family adventures we've had.  I must get back in to blogging!!!!  SOON!

RV's For Everyone

Now that we have a new, bigger car we didn't feel the need to go to the Car Show so we chose our next toy and headed up to check out all the campers possible at the RV Show.

We had to tell the kids we weren't going to be able to get in to every RV at the show so we taught them a few things we were looking for: not a 5th Wheel, had to have bunk beds, and it couldn't be too heavy for our Expedition to haul.  That narrowed it down some, but we still jumped in a lot of them.

Ethan and Avery tried out each set of bunks, each shower and tub, and made sure each trailer we could buy had a TV.

They were thrilled to find a kid size RV too.  We knew there was an RV for everyone as soon as we walked in!

Now all we need a little more money to buy one and a place to park it for the off season...

A Full Time Job

Ethan needs a full time job to earn enough money to buy all the toys he wants.  Thankfully Aunt Amy has been living with us and is too busy to do her own laundry.  In swoops Ethan and at $5 a week, plus a couple of tips for folding socks he was able to buy the Battering Ram he wanted to go with his Imaginext Castle.  I'm not sure what he'll do when Aunt Amy goes home again, Mom and Dad DON'T pay for laundry!
