Bob had a Public Open House for work to celebrate the new Front Runner Train and Stations opening up in December right across the freeway from our house. The kids were excited to go see the "fast train" up close.
Ethan got to sit where the conductor drives the train when they are going backwards and he was interviewed and quoted in the local newspaper.
Sometimes there are perks to daddy's job!

Camp Floyd
Bob had a rare Friday Work Meeting so the kids and I tagged along and visited the Pony Express Station Museum there. Ethan of course became a Jr Ranger. I'm so glad he likes to do the program and is learning a few extra things along the way.
As we toured the Stagecoach Inn Avery liked the piano best. I can just see her sitting playing and singing a song she's just written.
While Ethan was fascinated with the hole in the wall caused by a shot gun that went off while one of the guests was cleaning it.

Paradise Ranch
A trip to Washington isn't complete without a trip to Paradise Ranch. Ryan and Hannah always go all out to have us over and make it a fun afternoon.
Uncle Ry took us on a fabulous hay ride around their house. He fixed up Grandpa Richard's old tractor to tow us.
It was a ride down memory lane for all of us. We've taken Ethan's picture on this tractor quite a few times...it's nice to still have it in the family.
Avery was thrilled to see her old pals the horses and the dogs. She gets so brave when we're at Ry's.
Ryan sent us all home with a prize gourd from his garden. He's becoming a regular old farmer...Thanks Ry!

Pumpkin Patches
While we were in Washington we spent a couple of afternoons at the local pumpkin patches and fall festivals.
We had fun running with the cousins through the hay mazes...
Sliding down the huge slide...
Roasting Hot Dogs....
And shooting apples and pumpkins with huge sling shots.
But the most fun was just being together with lots and lots of Washington Family!

Apples Galore
We were lucky enough to get to go to Washington for Fall Break. We had so much fun playing with family. We also gleaned apples and pears. We were so excited to have fresh from the tree fruit.
With such a hard working crew it didn't take long to gather buckets and boxes full of ripe fruit.
Ethan loved using the old fashioned gleaning tool...a rusty tin can wired to the end of a long wooden board.
Avery on the other hand used the old fashioned method of hand picking with a little lift.
We packed our car full when we headed home. The kids and I peeled, sliced, and diced all our apples into homemade applesauce and dried apples and pears. We are loving the fruits of our labors.

Photo Shoot
Aunt Amy asked Ethan and Avery to be the model Ring Bearer and Flower Girl for the Flower Patch Wedding Catalog. After a tuxedo fitting, a lot of frilly dress searching and borrowing and a little bit of cleaning up...these two kids turned on the smiles and wowed the whole crowd. Aren't they cute!

Go Grizzlies!
We were lucky enough to cheer on the local hockey team! The game was high scoring for both sides, unfortunately our team didn't score as high as the other team...maybe next time!
