Washington Adventures

Our usual 10 1/2 hour trip to Washington took us 18 hours and $300 in car repairs this time! We still had about 2 hours left in our drive when Ethan began crying "Gram's House NO!" He was sure it wasn't worth it anymore to go to Gram's house. Despite the LONG drive through snow and detour we made it and the trip was well worth it! We had a great time.
We opened more presents as soon as we woke up the next morning. Our family made out like bandits with all the great gifts we got. Ethan loves his race track from Gram and Papa, his Sponge Bob & Patrick from Uncle Ryan and his new Planet Heroes from Cousins.
Everyone loved his food cutting set from Aunt Amy and we had to leave it out for all to play with while we were there!

Nancy hosted a sledding party later that day. We bundled up and had a ball. It was sunny and warm so we spent all day playing in the snow...we sledded, rode an inflated tube behind the 4-wheeler and roasted hot dogs around the fire. Ethan didn't like wearing his gloves and wouldn't most of the time, but never complained once about being cold. He was thrilled to really get to play outside without having to worry about a thing! The snow was gone by the next day so we were glad we'd done so much!

We took our annual trip to the near by Wildlife Feeding Station. It is always fun to see that many elk gathered together in one field and take a truck ride out in to the middle of the herd. There were even a few bald eagles flying around. The Big Horn Sheep Feeding Station was the highlight this year. There were lots of sheep feeding right when we got there. They were butting heads over food and one even perched itself up on a rock. Cousin Lane called him the king!

My parents' neighbor heard that Ethan loves the snakes at the pet store so they invited us over to hold their corn snake and feed it mice. Ethan loved it. The neighbor was holding it when she answered the door and Ethan immediately put his hand out to touch it. A few moments later he was asking to hold it! So we did...he and I together. I was surprised at how much Ethan liked petting the snake and was totally enthralled when it came time to feed it. He even held the chopsticks pinching the mouse. Bob did not go with us and assures me that we WILL NOT own a snake! We'll see when Ethan's old enough to ask for one!

There were so many other things we did in our 10 days there...shopping, WII playing, a sleep over, a New Year's Eve Party complete with giant bounce house and pinata, feeding horses, meeting Harvey's Hermit Crab, lots of movie watching and down right fun with family. Thanks for a great time Washington Family! We have our next trip planned (after the Spring Thaw!)

Wow! What a fun time. We missed you and were glad to hear that you made it safely there - eventually. I can't believe how much Ethan likes snakes. Does it come from your side of the family? Bob and Bill don't seem to have much love for those guys. Love your pictures!!!

I agree with mom. I think hating snakes runs in the family. Dad, Grandma, Uncle Bob...
