Itty Bitty Baseball

Way back in March I signed Ethan up for Itty Bitty Baseball at the local rec center. It was a little class with coaches for kids 3-4 years old to learn about baseball and practice some basic skills. Ethan asked me everyday when Itty Bitty Baseball was going to start. Sadly it didn't start until after my birthday, in May. It was a long 2 months away!

Finally the day came and after a search for just the right thing to wear and his mitt Ethan headed out to the clinic. He was greeted by lots of other young boys, a few coaches and his new team name - the Angels.

Each time we went to the class there were 6 stations set up. A few changed every time, but the favorites remained each day.

Ethan loved the batting stations a lot. For one station they tied a wiffle ball to a rope hung from the ceiling and the kids were to practice hitting a moving target. On Ethan's first hit he swung so hard he wrapped the ball, string and all, around the pipe it was tied to. He loved it! They also had a batting station with a tee he could hit off. He's a good hitter.

At the throwing and catching station the coaches would toss each boy the ball and they were to catch it and throw it back. Ethan has quite an arm and good aim. Now if we can only get him to keep his eyes open and catch the ball.

On his last day they had a blow up catcher with a net mitt they were supposed to pitch to. Ethan really got a kick out of the guy and was a pretty good little pitcher - especially up close.

After learning to hit, catch, and throw the kids had a chance to run the bases...it's a harder task than you would think. They don't care where the bases are they just want to run around together and hit a home run!

We had a great time learning about baseball and can't wait for the next Itty Bitty whatever Ball to start up again...maybe soccer!

What a big kid! We're so sorry we missed out on watching him play, but so happy you posted pictures! He looks too cute in his little baseball uniform.
