At The Mine

We live near an enormous open pit mine with lots of big diggers and dumpers working there. So we took the kids up to see all the great and amazing things at the mine. I'd seen an advertisement for the mine and free entry so we loaded up and headed out...and as it turns out so did many other families in state.

We were directed to a huge empty field and loaded into a bus to shuttle us to the visitor's center and overlook. Avery was thrilled to ride in the big bus and not have on any buckles...

The kids were impressed with the HUGE trucks hauling rocks around and around on all the different roadways. They were in awe at how big just one tire was. The trucks didn't look that big way down at the bottom of the mountain.

We had a super time learning about the mine, how they get copper and all of its uses, not to mention the blast of explosives that went off just in time for us to see how they loosen the rock, but the main attraction really was the huge hole in the ground with all the monster trucks working in it!
